French for Rabbits

Indie Alt Pop
The music of ethereal dream-pop luminaries French for Rabbits is probably best known for being cooly intimate, yet expansive and shimmering. To understand it, imagine you are examining small shells and sand, while standing on a wind-blown and empty coastline. Formed by vocalist and songwriter Brooke Singer, and guitarist John Fitzgerald, the line-up expanded to include drummer Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa, and multi-instrumentalists/vocalists Ben Lemi and Penelope Esplin. The five-piece have passionately been exploring and creating some of the most breathtaking and subtly innovative oceanic dream-pop around these parts. Based out of Wellington, they have seven international tours under their belt and festival appearances from Iceland to Austin. Their first EP 'Claimed by the Sea' was nominated for the NZ Folk Album of the Year, and they have since followed it up with two albums cherished by fans and critics alike, with music featured on the Vampire Diaries and Being Human. In 2020, they recorded their third album - which will be out sometime int 2021.
