Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Vesika developed in the underground bass music community of the capital city. He first gained notoriety playing DJ sets at club nights, and began throwing warehouse parties in 2014. Over the next year these parties evolved into the underground club night now known as Section 9. Since then, Section 9 has been the home for soundsystem oriented music in Wellington, hosting artists such as Commodo, Goth-Trad, Kahn and Neek.
Vesika continues to play DJ sets both in Wellington and abroad. While his sound spans many genres, there is always a consistent focus on sub frequencies in his sets. Known for his strictly vinyl performances that push boundaries and experiment, his selection is driven by a simple principle: “Soundsystem music isn’t just something you listen to; it’s a tactile sensation you physically feel”.
