Alda and the Brazilian Soul

Vibrant 70s Brazilian Grooves

Brazilian-born Alda Rezende is a celebrated singer and a veteran of Wellington’s music scene, known for her rich vocals and deep musical experience across Brazilian, Latin, jazz and classical traditions. Originally from Brazil, Alda has performed alongside legends like Elza Soares and João Bosco and has been a leading voice in Wellington’s jazz and world music communities for many years, including releasing albums and hosting a long-running world music radio show. For CubaDupa, Alda has brought together some of Wellington’s finest musicians to present a vibrant tribute to Brazilian black music of the 1970s - the irresistibly groovy, soulful and dance-driven sound that blends samba with North American soul and funk. Expect high-energy rhythms, classic grooves and an uplifting performance that celebrates the enduring spirit of Brazilian soul. Presented with the support of Ministry of Ethnic Communities.
