Dillon Jo is the project of Wellington Based artists Betty Smith and Georgie Levien, building paths between the elements of dream pop, shoegaze, folk, alt rock, and indie-pop to create their genre-defying sound. Having made quite the stir in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, they have recently played numerous shows around the motu. Betty and Georgie have been a part of the New Zealand music scene since they were kids. Having united at Massey University, Dillon Jo emerged through the summer in pursuit of creating something new that Wellington has never heard. Being a female fronted band, it is important to them to define their place in a male-dominated industry. Artists that aren’t afraid to take risks, be authentic, real, and emotional are what inspire them the most.
