Insula is the solo project of Naarm-based composer and electronic artist Finn Idris, delivering a visceral collision of heavy IDM, distorted bass, and live electric violin. Built from resynthesis, aggressive sound design, and physical performance, Insula’s sets blur the line between instrument, body, and machine - shifting rapidly between precision control and total collapse. Drawing on a deep classical background and cutting-edge live electronics, each performance unfolds as a tightly sculpted audiovisual event rather than a fixed set. Recent shows expand into live collaboration with visual artist Niph, whose reactive visuals intensify the music’s sense of pressure, motion, and rupture.
