Sarah Bookman: Play More
Architectural Fusion Art
Sarah Bookman (M.Arch Prof, NZRAB) is an architect and artist from Aotearoa, New Zealand. In addition to her architectural practice, Sarah engages in painting, drawing, and sculpture, delving into themes of self-reflection, transformation, and our connection to space and form. Her architectural background informs her artistic perspective, integrating geometric precision with fluid forms, the interplay of colour, and contrasts between mass and flow, layering, and extraction.
Sarah’s work investigates the intersection of architecture’s structured, service-driven nature with the freedom of artistic expression, creating a distinctive and continually evolving visual language. Above all, Sarah continues to embrace joy and play in her art, with a growing focus on engaging with her audience.
