The City Generator
The City Generator - an interactive celebration of Pōneke
Arden Callagher is an artist and Architectural Graduate based in Pōneke. Alongside her architectural practice, Arden's work draws on participatory design principles to engage communities in broader conversations surrounding the urban landscape and home-space. Her practice is informed by feminist and activist-led approaches, weaving together the built environment and the lived experience of the people who inhabit it. Her work investigates how communities can become active agents in shaping the spaces they call home, by creating dialogue, connection, and a sense of collective ownership over place. Above all, the work is driven by curiosity and a belief that play is a powerful tool for meaningful engagement.
Here, she asks: What do we love about Pōneke? What do we want to celebrate? How can we incorporate play into our everyday lives? Get hands-on with this interactive activation designed for the whole whānau — explore a scale model of the city, colour in the cityscape, and start a conversation with a stranger about what makes this place home. Jump in, get curious, and help paint a picture of Pōneke's future. Your voice, our city, a playground.
