The Wellington City Shake-’Em-On-Downers, are a sextet of the capital’s most danceable jazz musicians who have brought the traditional music of New Orleans and early jazz to the shores of our fine isles since 2011. They came up with the band name before anyone thought about how hard it would be to remember. They have survived minor car accidents and major food poisoning incidents to perform on stages throughout the country, including the Waiheke International Jazz Festival, Toast Martinborough, World of WearableArt, and Seven Days. Performing energetic original music inspired by the New Orleans and swing era, the Shake-’Ems will serve you up a spicy jambalaya full of mystery meat.
